You can get support from online therapy in Virginia even from Norfolk, VA. 23507 | 23503 | 23509Whatever is going on, an online therapist in Virginia can help.

Feeling so sad that you can’t just help but cry?

Finding yourself at the point of yelling or screaming about things others would think of as insignificant?

So depressed that you just want to turn out the lights so you can’t see yourself or anyone else?

If so, online therapy might be the right way to get help.

Online therapy is basically just like in-office therapy…

Research has shown that online therapy is effective for a wide variety of mental health problems.

Also, like in-person therapy, your privacy will be protected. We’ll use a HIPAA-compliant video platform, which means that the connection will be secure and your confidentiality protected in an online world.

The most important thing in therapy is the connection between the therapist and the client, and we’ll have that connection online—just as we would in person.

And there are advantages to doing online therapy…

No one will see you going to the “therapist’s office.”

You won’t have to take time off work or explain things to your boss. You can even meet during your lunch break!

And scheduling couldn’t be easier. Just a couple of clicks on the calendar… and you are all set!

So… pretty easy, right?

Online therapy is not right for you if you have a current plan for suicide. Instead, please call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at (800) 273-8255 or dial 911 and get help immediately.

If you have significant medical problems or are experiencing a medical emergency, online therapy may not be an effective choice. Please go to your local hospital or call 911 as needed.

Finally, if you have inadequate Internet access, online therapy will not work for you. Please do not use public Wi-Fi, as that connection might not be secure, leaving your private information vulnerable.

Basic dos and don’ts of online therapy…

Test your Internet connection before the session to ensure that everything works well, and your signal is strong.

Use a device with a webcam, like a laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

Find a private space that’s free of distractions and noise.

Don’t…

Don’t join the session if you are driving a car. Distracted driving is not safe. If you drive your car during the session, I will ask to reschedule and end the call, and you will be charged as if this were a no-show.

Don’t have your child or teen participate in the session in a moving vehicle, even if they are the passenger.

Don’t do your therapy session in public places like stores, parks, restaurants, etc. Therapy works best when it is free of distractions and private. If you’re not able to meet in private space on the day of your session, please call and reschedule for a time when you know you can be at home.
